Ponava – potential of area development

The aim of the project is to focus on the future development of an underused urban space of Ponava, to enhance its qualities and to find suitable programme according to general principles of sustainable development. In todays´less favorable economical situation I´m trying to propose interventions, that do not start ´tabula rasa´ and destroy what has been abandoned in time(the stadium), rather they add new layers on it and combine different kinds of social groups in a specific public place.

Greenhouse Automation and Climate Control

This master’s thesis occupies with measurements and a proposal of optimization the current heating and ventilation system of the greenhouse in Arboretum of Brno. The greenhouse is determined for growing orchids. There were taken long-term measurements in this compound. End results of this master’s thesis are measured data and their analysis, the suggestion for improvement of the whole measurement and regulation system. The part of the document is the numerical simulation of the current environment state in the greenhouse.

Sports and Relaxation Centre Za Lužánkami, Brno

The subject of this diploma thesis was to prepare an urban study of a sports center in Brno Za Lužánkami. Before the diploma thesis, we focused on this area in the previous winter semester. The aim of the diploma thesis is to develop an architectural study of the multifunctional sports complex. In the current state of the area around the football stadium and the Boby Center / Cosmopolitan Hotel, there is a lot of paved space, used only for parking. The territory has great potential for revitalizing the territory. Not only its size, but also its proximity to the very center of Brno. The urban problem of the current area is the neglected technical condition of the buildings, the unsatisfactory function of the buildings and the poor connection of the area to the surroundings via Drobného street and Sportovní street. The aim of the work was to design the demolition of the football stadium. Unfortunately, as it has been raining into it for over fifty years and the concrete structures are in an irreparable condition. The main part is therefore dedicated to this part of the new territory, which will be created by the demolition of the football stadium. In the new territory, I chose the construction of divided sports facilities. Each building will specialize in one given sport. The buildings will have entrance areas, sanitary facilities and gyms. The proposal will respect an important axis of vision for the former football stadium from Rybníček street. There was a rich sports history here in Brno, which my parents also experienced. An important aspect of the design is the strong genius loci, which must be worked with sensitively. This area deserves to be revived so that the inhabitants of the whole of Brno can play sports again, as it was a few decades ago on the daily agenda to practice in this green locality.

Complex urban study of the public space Sportovní, Drobného, Tř. gen. Píky, Porgesova

Due to diverse surrounding area and position of isolated large objects suggest itself solving of conception by stages. In the southern part there were suggested new sports halls which have a long term tradition in this area. These buildings keep to the axis of Sportovní street and they are reacting to existing buildings on the other side. In the northern part at the shopping centre it was necessary make the place accesible and grass the place over and use the opportunity of the large space. In the northeastern part there is housing development and it reacts on the FRRMS building and it makes confotable enviroment for living. Buildings FRRMS together with rampats and bushy vegetation are isolating flat buildings. Effort to connect existing and establish new resulted in the simple solution solution that does not disrupt the neighborhood, on the contrary, trying to blend in with the city and calm the chaos in this area.

Design of sustainable urban structure of the 21st century in the Czech Republic

This thesis is solving the design of a sustainable urban structure of the 21st century in Brno, in the area of Kasárna in Černá pole. The thesis is trying to create a neighborhood that would serve not only to the needs of the millennials, but of every generation. It is trying to build a city for the people. I am designing the new development as a lively, diverse and flexible neighborhood which considers the history of the area. I am conserving its rectangular shape in the urban footprint. I am designing a city with clearly defined public spaces. I am opening the neighborhood to the public and therefor allow it to newly connect with neighboring districts. The goal of the design is to create a modern neighborhood that will function as a new subcenter of the city of Brno.

Hodnocení a návrh managementu dřevin v opuštěném arboretu Kostelec na Hané

The final thesis summarizes the historical context of the establishment of the arboretum and its founders. Concurrently, it deals with ascertaining the current state of tree species and species diversity in the investigated area. For this purpose, a dendrological survey was carried out, a part of which was the design of an appropriate cultivation measure for individual trees, including the pricing of the proposed management on the site, which was aimed at maintaining promising individuals, which make up 50% of the total number, for possible further use of the area. The results showed that for more than half a century, insufficient care for the site caused a decrease in the species composition, which narrowed to 82 species of woody plants. Assuming the site remains as it is, the number of species will continue to decline due to the more competitive species Acer platanoides L.

The arboretum borová hora – its importance and influence on the landscape of zvolen town environs

Arboretum and botanical gardens are scientific and educational institutions that are closely connected with the development of science and the needs of practice. They are specific by the focus of the plant collections, the architectural solution, the location within the residential unit, region, etc. Arboretum Borová hora is a research and pedagogical workplace of the Technical University in Zvolen. The collections use primarily for pedagogical, scientific research and educational work in the field of dendrology and other biological disciplines. In contrast to other similar facilities, mainly autochthonous trees species grow here, which once grew in the forests of Slovakia, in their wide intra-species and geographical variability. Arboretum Borová hora has with a high probability changed the potential values of the landscape during its more than 55-year duration, especially in relation to the residence and their contacts with the landscape. The landscape character, natural components and characteristics of the arboretum are currently perceived as added value, which is used not only primary education, science and research of the faculties of the Technical University in Zvolen, but also environmental education of the general public in an experiential form.

Návrh založení arboreta

The diploma thesis deals with the issue of arboretums and especially their creation. The author focuses mainly on the layout of these gardens in terms of landscape architecture. The problem nowadays is that gardens don‘t initially have some kind of uniform concept, on the basis of which the gardens would be gradually realised. The literary research deals with the importance, history, current situation and possibilities of using arboretums. The work also deals with the possibilities of creating these gardens. For example, how to fulfill as efficiently as possible several of the mission of gardens of a given type. The subsequent analysis of Czech and foreign realizations of these gardens was intended to describe their mission and define the compositional principles of the given premises. On the basis of literary research and analysis of reference realizations, theoretical basis for the creation of arboretums was established. This should serve as a general tool in the process of designing these units. On the basis of previous findings, a proposal for an arboretum has been developed for the study phase. The area addressed was first thoroughly analyzed, then a concept was created and finally a design of the whole premises was drawn up with detailed development of some segments.

Zhodnocení růstu druhu Phellodendron amurense Rupr. na ŠLP ML Křtiny

The thesis is focused on overal evaluation of the growth of Phellodendron amurense Rupr. at ŠLP ML Křtiny. The first step was to study basic literature concern species processing of broader territorial relations at localities, where the field works were done. These included in ventorying of the species at ŠLP ML Křtiny, indication individual trees, recording to the maps and measurement of basic mensurational quantities (diameter, heigh,...) on selected specimens. Further, the selected speciements at Arboretum Křtiny were monitored to find out the impact of removed bark on a course of temperatures in the upper layer of wood during the period. The growth of trees in plantation in Sokolnice was also evaluated. The last step was to evaluate the current situation of Phellodendron amurense Rupr. In the terms of ŠLP ML Křtiny and to propose further management.
